HISTORIC ARCHIVE TO BE DIGITIZED
The Boston Public Library is partnering with OpenAI and Harvard Law School to digitize their huge collection of out-of-copyright U.S. government materials—dating back to the early 1800s, including oral histories, congressional reports, and industry/community surveys. Harvard’s AI programs (from Harvard Law School’s Institutional Data Initiative) will help improve the metadata of the digitized works to make them easily searchable. For genealogists, this means there will be online access to fully searchable books and documents that were previously only available in person. The initial goal is to have 5,000 items digitized and publicly available by the end of the year! HELP IDENTIFY & CONNECT ‘ERASED’ BURIALS
From Triva Mack, director of Clearwater Colored Cemeteries (3C) Society: “Seventy years ago the final resting places for an estimated 1,000 Black Clearwater, Florida men, women and children were completely erased by city officials to make room for new development. Recent archeology studies found evidence of graves under buildings, parking lots and a road, confirming that disinterment and relocation promises that were made to grieving loved ones had been broken. The Clearwater Colored Cemeteries Society, Inc. (3C Society), under the auspices of the Pinellas Genealogy Society, is making great strides in identifying those decedents as well as their living relatives.” There are several ways you can help including volunteering your genealogy research skills, creating oral histories of the area, and content creation, as well as contributing to their GoFundMe to help finance the extensive work. Find out more at the Clearwater Colored Cemeteries Society website: https://3csocietyinc.org/ or donate via their GoFundMe campaign at https://gofund.me/b3029965 .

Lots of new advertisers on the sidebars lately (with more to come!) Take a sec and check them all out 🙂 Ads are required to be ‘of interest to genealogists’, and help cover the website expenses. I really appreciate the support (and hope y’all do too!) And as always, please feel free to send questions, corrections, comments, or concerns to me through either the CONTACT form on the website or email at info@conferencekeeper.org. I answer every note or email, and contrary to rumors, I’m not a bot (although that would make my life easier!) Your input is very much appreciated!!
