150 new genealogy events were added to our calendar this past week!

CALENDAR or VIRTUAL CALENDAR for
ALL of the upcoming genealogy events.

. . . . . .

I’ve got a LOT of info for you this week, so you might want to grab a drink and maybe even a snack before you get started 🙂  Please also note that 3 of the new events in the list below are scheduled for TODAY, Sunday, Nov. 13 — fingers crossed you can still get registered if interested!

ORGANIZING YOUR EVENTS

If you read last week’s email, you might remember that I mentioned that I’d be attending a webinar on organizing your genealogy events and would share some insights this week with you. Well…. a few insights turned into an afternoon contemplating solutions which resulted in a database template and a blog post that you can read all about here:  https://conferencekeeper.org/organizing-your-genealogy-events/     The Cliff notes version of my ponderings on what I learned is that two possible ways to keep track of events you’ve signed up for are either using a Google calendar or the Airtable database template that I created and can be found at https://www.airtable.com/universe/expM3tVZtGIEGYlWY/webinareventappt-tracker   (You really might want to read the blog post too).

WEEKEND FREEBIES

In between genealogy webinars and other events, this weekend you could spend some time checking out free access at some of the big genealogy websites (but these end soon!):

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

In case you were wondering about when The AncestryProGenealogists® Scholarship application deadline is this year… well, it isn’t. The program is on “pause” per their website. It was really an awesome program and will be missed. There are still a couple other scholarship programs for some of the major institutes, three of which have deadlines in December.  I’m on the hunt for more, so if you know of any that aren’t on the “Awards, Grants & Scholarships” page, please let me know!

UPDATED SCHEDULE

Genealogy Quick Start TV has moved their live presentations from Thursdays, to every other Tuesday, at 7:00 pm Eastern time.  The dates and times have been updated on the ConferenceKeeper calendar.  You can also find and watch past episodes on their YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/GenealogyQuickStart.  If you haven’t watched some Genealogy Quick Start TV yet, you’re missing out — they are a conversation-style discussion/interview with other genealogists, sharing really great insights and research tips.

SHARE YOURSELF

Please consider sharing a little of your time and talent by volunteering with your local genealogical society.  I have noticed lately several that are posting dire requests for volunteers, a lack of which may put the society’s future in peril.  All genealogists benefit from local societies !

TWITTER ALTERNATIVE

If you’ve signed up for the social network Mastodon (https://mastodon.social/), find and friend me there 😊  Look for @ConferenceKeeper@toot.community

THANK YOU AND A SPECIAL DEAL FOR 2022

I really appreciate everyone who has donated individually,  as well as the advertisers who have supported ConferenceKeeper this year as I treaded these new waters of website advertising. After much research and a few expert opinions, the sidebar advertising rates will be increasing in 2023 (by about 35%).  That being said (and quite honestly because I’m hoping to be able to purchase a “digital booth” for ConferenceKeeper at the online RootsTech exhibit hall), if you’d like to commit to an ad for your event, or genealogy product, yourself as a speaker, or ANYTHING related to genealogy really, for any period of time next year, and pay before the end of 2022, it will save you money and help promote ConferenceKeeper to that million+ audience of the virtual RootsTech classes, who will then in-turn see your event or product when it’s advertised. Win/win, right?? 😊 Email me at info@conferencekeeper.org with any questions.  I definitely want to say, yet again, that ConferenceKeeper.org is completely volunteer run  — yep, pretty much just me with some guidance from my amazing board of directors.  Every penny from advertising and the generosity of individuals goes toward maintaining and improving the website.

I’ll close by requesting that you let me know if something isn’t working right, or if something could be “better.” Suggestions, comments, and even criticisms are welcomed. You can use the CONTACT form on the website or email me at info@conferencekeeper.org. I sincerely appreciate your input! And as always, thank you for reading 🙂
