. . . . . .

Wow! 333 new genealogy events added to the calendar this past week! Because 177 of those are the Legacy Family Tree Webinars lineup for 2023, I haven’t included them in the list below (it’s a bit overwhelming). For a quick and easy list of the new 2023 LFTW programs, see the pdf on their website at https://familytreewebinars.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2023brochure.pdf

SCGS JAMBOREE EXTENSION WEBINARS ARE NOW FREE

The Southern California Genealogical Society’s 2023 Jamboree Webinar Extension Series programs will be FREE this year! (Previously $5.50 each – thank you SCGS!) The full year’s lineup has been submitted by the society, and is now posted on our calendars.  Of course you can always make a small donation to the society to show your appreciation 🙂  The webinars are included in the list below, but you can also find the full program listing on the SCGS website at https://www.scgsgenealogy.com/webinar/jes-index.html

FREE ON-LINE (& IN-PERSON) TECH HELP

I received an email from Raleigh Senior Tech Ed (RSTE) recently sharing that they won’t be posting a new schedule of courses for a couple of months, but they will provide on-line help with your technology questions and problems now through February. You just need to fill out an On-Line Help Request form, click Send, and an RSTE volunteer will get in touch and help with your technology question or problem. (Raleigh SeniorTech Ed specializes in teaching technology to older folks and those who might not be quite tech savvy, but anyone can benefit from their programs). The form can be found at https://www.raleighseniorteched.org/help-request-form/If you’re in the Raleigh NC area, they do have In-Person 1-on-1 Help every Monday, except Holidays. No registration is required – just walk in. You can find the schedule and locations at https://www.raleighseniorteched.org

2022 RECAP

This is easily my favorite email to write all year! I love to look back and see how things have changed and improved over the past year. And boy was this a banner year!  Last year at this time, we were adding between 50-75 new events a week. This year is ending with the average newly added weekly events right around 150 – about double! This week I added well over 300 new events, but to be fair, that includes the 177 new webinars for 2023 from Legacy Family Tree Webinars.

ConferenceKeeper.org became an IRS registered 501(c)3 charitable organization early this year, so donations are now tax-deductible. And this year was the first year that the website was completely self-sustaining and covered all of its own expenses, thanks to your kind donations!  ConferenceKeeper is still entirely volunteer run. I manage the upkeep and daily operations, and the board of directors, which includes Katherine Willson and Gena Philibert-Ortega, provides much appreciated guidance and direction. I truly appreciate all the help and support I can get 🙂

This year we also started accepting genealogy-related advertising on the website sidebars and the occasional weekly email sponsor ads. These ads have been quite successful in helping to promote family history-specific programs and products that you might not have otherwise heard about. Please support our advertisers by at least checking out what they’re offering. Website advertising rates are now $45/month, and each ad will appear in three locations: in the sidebar, in a rotating display at the top of the right sidebar, and on the Advertisers page. Contact me at info@conferencekeeper.org if you’re interested in promoting a special program, society, or genealogy product.

I’m unabashedly proud of how far we’ve come in the seven years since the site re-launched on January 5, 2016! If you’d like to read more about how the site came about,  you can find the “history” under the “Home” tab, “About Us” (https://conferencekeeper.org/conference-keeper/)

I sincerely appreciate your emails, whether they’re questions, suggestions, and even complaints, and especially those letting me know when something is broken.  I’m setting up my to-do list for 2023 of site improvements and would love your input on what might make the website even more useful or easier to navigate.

As always, thank you so much for all your support:  liking and sharing our posts on social media, your helpful emails and kind words, and of course the donations that keep the website operating.  I hope the rest of this year is happy and peaceful for you!  Please don’t hesitate to use the CONTACT form on the website or email me at info@conferencekeeper.org if you have any suggestions, comments, or questions.  Wishing you the very best year ever in 2023!

– Tami Osmer Mize
