REGISTRATION OPENS SOON
Registration for both in-person and virtual courses at GRIP Genealogy Institute will open on Tuesday, February 4. Have you decided which course you’ll take? It’s difficult to choose just one from this year’s list! Check out the courses for both in-person and virtual here.
LIKE THE SEARS ‘WISH BOOK’ FOR GENEALOGISTS
The RootsTech 2025 full schedule of classes is now available for you to peruse, and save your “wish list” of favorite classes to attend, whether in-person or virtual via scheduling tools available either on your smartphone or computer. If you’re planning to attend online you’ll need to register (free) or sign in at the RootsTech.org website to create your playlist. Go ahead and add everything that sounds even remotely interesting, as you have a year (or sometimes longer) to view the content on-demand after it has been broadcast originally. Full details on the RootsTech blog here.
TIPS FOR SEARCHING THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES (US) CATALOG
NARA‘s “2024 Year in Review” includes a compilation of search tips they published in newsletters in 2024. These are very simple yet extremely handy tips for searching their online catalog, and how to fix common search issues that will be really helpful if you’re researching their catalog online. See the tips here.
MEETINGS NOW FREE
The virtual meetings of the Delaware Genealogical Society, previously free only for members, are now free for everyone who wishes to attend. Their upcoming program topics include artificial intelligence, methodology, Colonial research, and Delaware research. You can search our calendars for “Delaware Genealogical Society” or see their website.
IF YOU’RE IN THE ST. LOUIS AREA…
The St. Louis County Library is again holding their popular, free, “Genealogy University.” Those who attend any four History & Genealogy programs from January to March 2025 will receive a MyHeritage DNA test kit upon completion. You must be able to pick up your DNA kit in person at a library branch, and you must register by January 16. Spots are limited, applicants will chosen by lottery. The St. Louis County Library regularly has lots of free in-person AND virtual programs that you can find on the ConferenceKeeper calendar. You can register for their “Genealogy University” here.
