🔵 AN AMAZING WOMAN
You won’t want to miss the upcoming, free, Culture Conversation with A’Lelia Bundles on Family and Historical Research being presented by NGS on 7 February 2024 at 8:00 p.m. (ET). Ms. Bundles is the biographer and great-great-granddaughter of Madam C.J. Walker, who, according to Wikipedia, “was an African American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political and social activist. She is recorded as the first female self-made millionaire in America in the Guinness Book of World Records.” Among many other accomplishments, Bundles founded the Madam Walker Family Archives, the largest private collection of Walker ephemera, photographs, and memorabilia, and authored On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam C.J. The Grants Pass Genealogical Society (Oregon) has shut down after 55 years. They plan to keep their Facebook and website pages available. The Rogue Valley Genealogical Society generously has offered GPGS’s 2023 members a complimentary one-year membership in RVGS. Societies need members, but even more, they need volunteers! How are you supporting your local society? How can you share your time and/or talents?
