. . . . . .

It’s the end of week two of my longest road trip ever, with just about a week and a half and a couple thousand more miles left to go.  We’ve travelled through North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and have been visiting some friends and family now in Arizona. (Back to Texas next week, before heading home again by the end of the month!) Still I’m able to keep things updated fairly timely, and here it is Saturday night and I’m writing this email to keep you all up to speed on what’s new and other things you might not want to miss. I haven’t been online as much as usual, but I do have a few tidbits to share!

GENEALOGY DNA MURDER MYSTERY
DNA guru Diahan Southard and genealogical mystery author Nathan Dylan Goodwin is hosting a DNA/Genealogy “Murder Mystery” event in Salt Lake City, UT on March 1 – the day before RootsTech begins. Attendees will be fed, receive a copy of his latest book, and then participate in a 3-hour guided experience working in small teams to identify a fictional serial killer featured in Goodwin’s latest book, The Sawtooth Slayer using DNA and genealogy research.” Cost is $149 per person. Details and sign up at https://events.yourdnaguide.com/detective

HISTORY DAY PAID INTERNSHIP
The State Historical Society of Missouri is offering a paid internship to assist with National History Day in Missouri.  The two absolute requirements are: The intern MUST be an undergraduate or graduate student in the field of the humanities and MUST be able to work the National History Day state contest (in-person) on April 22, 2023, in Columbia, Missouri. If you know of anyone who might be interested, the full details can be found at https://shsmo.org/about/internships/nhdmo.  Applications are due by November 15.

UPDATED REGISTRATION LINK
I don’t always mention these, but since this one is coming up right this week I thought I would: Milwaukee County Genealogical Society notified me of an updated/corrected registration link for their Oct 28 program  “Landscape and Spiritual Renewal of the Borderland in Northwest Bohemia“. The correct link is: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYudeCtpj8vHN1X8W5rua06TqN0QmQnlNTf   It has been corrected on the calendar.

REMINDER
When you see the list of new events on the website blog post, it is usually just the date, event title, and a URL – it often doesn’t include an event’s specific registration link, but instead a link to a society’s main page.  It’s done that way on the What’s New only for space considerations — the full listing on the ConferenceKeeper.org calendar will almost always include as much helpful event information as possible, including specific registration links, as well as links to a society’s page. While it’s really wonderful that genealogical societies offer free webinars and programs to the general public, as most of you already know, I thoroughly support society membership as well, and like to be sure folks have the opportunity to see what else a society may be offering other than “just” a webinar 🙂

As I mentioned, I’m keeping up with my email mostly on my cell phone (gotta love technology!), but I am trying to stay on top of things while I’m out, so please, as always, feel free to email me if you’ve got any suggestions or questions. You can use the CONTACT form on the website or email me at info@conferencekeeper.org. I always sincerely appreciate your input! And as always, thank you for reading 🙂
