What’s New on our calendar to February 21, 2021

February 21, 2021

A whopping 164 new genealogy events were added to the calendar this week, although about 10 already occurred so they aren’t included below.  Considering each event is at least 60 minutes long, with many lasting longer, that’s equal to almost an entire week – 24 hours a day – of genealogy education! OK so that might be a bit much  😊 But you get the idea. We added a LOT of events!

. . . . . .

Did you get the email?

I don’t like to duplicate the email here in this post, just like I don’t really want to the huge list of new events in an email.  So please consider signing up for the weekly email — only one a week on Sunday afternoon — which really serves as a reminder to check the website for what’s been added as well as take a look at what will becoming up this week that you don’t want to miss. I also tend to make a list of some that really stand out to me that I wouldn’t want to miss, but only in the email.

I’ve made a few small changes to things based on the feedback from last week (and some from before that even). Email subscribers will know what I’m talking about 🙂  You might notice something different (and helpful) in the event listings. So sign up for the email so you don’t miss anything!

As always, if you have suggestions or comments, please feel free to use the CONTACT form on the website or email me!

This Week

Last week I was able to attend a program for the RootsTech Ambassadors and they gave us all a sneak peek of the Virtual Conference website and what all will be happening. Hopefully  you already know about RootsTech Connect, a FREE virtual genealogy conference hosted by FamilySearch, which will run from Thursday 25 February through Saturday 27 February. At least the “Live” programs and entertainment are only those three days. All of the other content for the most part will be available online, for free, for the rest of this year.  But don’t think you can pass up the event this week and catch it later — RootsTech Connect will also have all sorts of live events going on, including discussion groups, chats with presenters, a virtual Expo Hall (with the requisite conference “specials”!) and, oh my goodness, so much more!

Again, it’s completely FREE and all you will have to do is go to www.RootsTech.org — the conference will be taking over the entire website.  There are definite benefits to registering, though — by registering and signing in, you’re able to create a “playlist” of presentations that you’re interested in, and it will save them for you so that you can go back any time later and watch them.  And of course there’s the amazing Cousin Connection where, if you have a free FamilySearch account, you can see how many other people registered for RootsTech you’re related to.

Let me sum this all up by saying that based on the small preview that I was shown, RootsTech Connect will be like no other online genealogy event you’ve ever experienced.

HOWEVER!!! RootsTech Connect isn’t the ONLY genealogy event going on this week — there are really many worth checking out on our calendar 🙂

Now back to the business at hand!
