What’s New on Our Calendar to August 6, 2023

150 new genealogy events were added to our calendar this past week!
>>The list of ALL the NEWLY ADDED events is further down this post.<<
See the full CALENDAR or VIRTUAL CALENDAR for
ALL of the upcoming genealogy events.

. . . . . .

I sometimes need to use ConferenceKeeper on my phone, and I know it isn’t the best experience, so I created something new this week that hopefully some of you will find helpful. It’s called aMicroSite which is basically a quick link that opens a very clean page with the most-used “buttons” to take you right where you want to go on the website. (Once there, you can always navigate anywhere you want as you usually would).  You can use this link on any internet-connected device: computer, smartphone, or tablet. Try it out and see if you find it useful: pxl.to/CKmini

Lots of other tidbits of info to share with you too, so please read on!

As always, information below contains no affiliate links and is not any kind of paid advertising — it’s good genealogy news to know!

NEW & NOTABLE THIS WEEK:

The Kentucky Genealogical Society’s 50th Anniversary Genealogy Webinar Series kicks into full gear this week with the first three of several webinars in their series “Kentucky: Daughter of the East and Mother of the West.”

– Mon, Aug 7 Researching California with Sheila Benedict
– Tue, Aug 8 Researching North Carolina with David McCorkle
– Wed, Aug 9 Researching Texas with Jeri Steele

See the full lineup of what they have in store for this month on the KGS website.

> This Tuesday, August 8, David Rencher, AG®, CG®, FUGA, FIGRS, will be spotlighted on Genealogy QuickStart TV. David is the Chief Genealogical Officer for FamilySearch International, an entertaining and engaging speaker, and all around great guy. This promises to be a fun and informative (and always free) program.

> Popular Canadian speaker, Dave Obee, will be giving a free presentation for the BYU Family History Library on Thursday Aug 31 “Discoveries in the 1931 Canadian Census”.

> Pastfinders of South Lake County announced their upcoming 3-part, virtual Beginner Genealogy Series which starts Sept. 6.

> Katherine Shober of Germanology Unlocked is hosting a special one-week long “ Back-to-School German Genealogy Webinar Extravaganza”, with intensive exploration into German heritage, starting Aug 28.

> Rogue Valley Genealogical Society has about a dozen, free, informative webinars planned for their September “Genealogy Week”.

> History Scotland has announced a new Summer Giveaway. Be sure to enter for your chance to win one of several really awesome prizes, including books, magazine subscriptions, FamilyTree Plus community membership, and a few other great prizes (which might be location specific).

> And last, but definitely not least, 12 more genealogy podcasts, not necessarily new, but have been newly added to our Podcasts page!

 . . . .

Please be sure to peruse the whole list of newly added events! There is quite the variety of topics to help you become the best genealogy researcher you can be.

Thank you as always for your support, comments, suggestions, and especially corrections. It’s just me here at ConferenceKeeper, so your input and help is really appreciated!  You may reach me through either the CONTACT form on the website or email at info@conferencekeeper.org . Have a great week!

– Tami Osmer Mize
