I can always tell when October is rolling around because the calendar starts to get really full. We’ve had nearly 200 additions a week recently! It’s a great time to learn a new skill or join a new society. The National Genealogical Society has shared several free, downloadable PDFs with great ideas on how to get started, or continue on, with preserving family memories, photos, stories and more. MN SHOW & TELL

The Great Minnesota Show & Tell, October 24, 2026, will be a day-long event where Minnesotans are invited to showcase items (such as family heirlooms, service medals, memorabilia of civic engagement, historic documents, personal keepsakes of important historical moments, etc.) and share how they connect to the American story. FREE MAPPING TOOL

Hat tip to Jeniann Nielsenfor talking about the RandyMajors.org map website in a recent Facebook Reel. I’ve known about and used this site for many years, but hadn’t realized all the updates and new tools that are available.
