  • William S. Burroughs, 1914. Renowned “beat” author known for pushing the limits of taboo subjects.
  • John Carradine, 1906, American film actor, known as “The Bard of Broadway” due to his habit of wandering the streets in a velvet suit and satin cape, reciting Shakespeare.
  • Robert Peel, 1788, English Tory statesman, twice served as prime minister, and was chief secretary for Ireland.
  • Adlai Ewing Stevneson II, 1900. American statesman, governor of Illinois, Democratic candidate for president in 1952 and 1956.
  • John Witherspoon, 1723. Clergyman, signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Celebrations                               

Working Naked Day – celebrating those who work without the support of the traditional corporate workplace (still fully clothed). Please don’t accidentally embarrass yourself thinking otherwise.

Ontario Winter Carnival Bon Soo, Feb 5-14. One of Canada’s largest winter carnivals.

National Wear Red Day (better than working naked, please). Celebrating American Heart Month and Go Red For Women, to bring awareness of the risks of heart disease to women.

Weatherperson’s Day. Commemorating the birth of one of America’s first weathermen, John Jeffries, a Boston physician who kept detailed records of weather conditions from 1774 to 1816.
