🔵 MORE HERITAGE TO CELEBRATE THIS MONTH
You probably know already that October is Family History Month — but it is also German-American Heritage Month, National Italian American Heritage Month, Polish American Heritage Month, Filipino American History Month, as well as still the last half of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 – Oct 15).

Just a few of the special heritage/genealogy events for October include – The Polish Genealogical Society of Connecticut’s 2023 Polish Genealogy Conference which will be virtual, starting October 20. For Italian American Heritage Month, the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library is presenting a free webinar on Oct. 10: Immagini di Antenati: Photos of our Italian Ancestors, with Michael Cassara. And Katherine Schober with Germanology Unlocked is presenting a free webinar on Oct. 12, Help, I’m Stuck!: Breaking Down Brick Walls in German Genealogy

Remember, you can search any of the calendars (use the box at the top left of any calendar) for keywords, like Italy, Italian, German, etc., to find some of the special events that are being hosted by various societies and libraries this month.

🔵 BOOK SALE !
American Ancestors by New England Historic Genealogical Society is having an online used book sale through October, with an additional 10% discount. See the titles at https://shop.americanancestors.org/collections/used-and-remaindered-books

🔵 A FOND FAREWELL
Thursday I had a lovely time presenting a webinar for the Clayton Library Friends on the ins and outs of the ConferenceKeeper website. Immediately following my program was a very sweet “Farewell” presentation for Susan Kaufman, who is leaving the Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research in Houston, having been the Senior Manager there since 2005. We wish Susan all the best for her next adventures!

🔵 NEW CONTESTS / GIVEAWAYS!

This year the RootsTech pass giveaways are going to be handled differently than they have in the past. Instead of each individual Ambassador/Influencer giving away a single pass, The RootsTech folks are holding just one contest, and will be giving away a total of 20 passes. The sweepstakes will run through October 31, with winners being announced on November 1. See our Contests page for full details and the link to enter. As always, if you’ve already purchased your ticket, they will most likely refund your purchase should you win a free pass.

Family Tree Magazine is giving away an Epson Perfection V600 photo scanner, valued at $349, with resolution up to 6400 x 9600 dpi. See our Contests page for full details and the link to enter.

🔵 CONFERENCES THIS WEEK

See the CONFERENCES tab on the website for all upcoming conferences. The list below doesn’t include any of the awesome SEMINARS this week — “Search” the calendars for “Seminars” too!

. . . . . .

Have you got an idea or opinion on how to make ConferenceKeeper.org even better? Your input is always truly appreciated! You may reach me through either the CONTACT form on the website or email at info@conferencekeeper.org Have a great week!
