204 new genealogy events were added to our calendar this past week!

CALENDAR or VIRTUAL CALENDAR for
ALL of the upcoming genealogy events.

. . . . . .

Just over 200 events were added to the calendar this week, with almost half of those events scheduled for February alone! About 35 of the newly added events are occurring this coming week, so be sure to look thru the full list (below) and get registered for those you’re interested in. As always, the newly added webinars and programs cover a huge range of topics, such as basic skills for genealogy research and several on African American research, another on “Adoptee Rights and Genealogy”, and even one on “Using Ortssippenbucher to Research Your German Ancestors.” (Now I’ve got to go google Ortssippenbucher …. “The Ortssippenbuch is a book of the compiled records from a parish and sometimes from other local sources that organize people and their events into family groups.” Wow. That would be awesome to have access to!).  There’s ALWAYS something more to learn, isn’t there? Here’s a few things that caught my eye this week:

MORE NEW THINGS TO LEARN…

Speaking of learning new things, the folks at Ponga are having a free Demo webinar coming up, and also have made their past few programs with expert guest speakers available on-demand. They’re full of great tips and info on sharing your family photos, and finding and telling the stories that go with them — which of course is what the Ponga program is pretty awesome at doing too. Check out the demo to see how fun family history can be.  https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/9816747623459/WN_alJfGXI8SfCKnq7vbPpoYA

CONFERENCES & SEMINARS

I worked this week on trying to be sure I’ve got all of the usual annual conferences and spring seminars on the calendar, and so quite a few new ones have been added. You can always find the list of Conferences on our Conference page, and you can Search for ‘Seminar’ (or any other keyword) on any of the green calendar pages in the upper left.

GFO OPEN HOUSE

The Genealogical Forum of Oregon has shared the dates of their annual Open House, March 11-19, during which time they will be presenting 29 free classes on a wide variety of topics, and all online! I highly suggest you start with the very first one listed which is “Introducing the GFO,” where you’ll learn all about the society, their library and its holdings, plus all the benefits of membership. (Here’s a teaser: your annual membership gets you access to Fold3, HistoryGeo, HeritageQuest Online, and American Ancestors at home or their library!) I’m still in the process of getting all of these classes up on ConferenceKeeper, but you can find the full schedule at https://gfo.org/learn/open-house-2023.html  (Each class requires its own registration.)

REUNIONS

Reunions Magazine will be holding a free Family Reunion Workshop in-person, in Sandy Springs, Georgia on March 11, where you can learn all the ins and outs of setting up and holding your own memorable family reunion. It is free, but space is limited and registration is required.  See:  https://www.visitsandysprings.org/perimeter-north-family-reunion-workshop/ .   By the way, Reunions Magazine also has added three new contests for February, all with pretty fabulous prizes (see Contests below).

As always, please don’t hesitate to use the CONTACT form on the website or email me at info@conferencekeeper.org if you have any suggestions, comments, or questions.  Have a great week!
