OTHER NEWS:

SLIG FALL VIRTUAL

Registration opened June 10 for SLIG (Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy) Fall Virtual 2023, and limited seats remain in half a dozen or so of the courses. The courses will be online via Zoom, from September to November 2023. Course details can be found at https://slig.ugagenealogy.org/cpage.php?pt=647

REDESIGNED

Pharos Tutors has a newly redesigned website and a new logo too.  The new website is very easy to navigate, with a clean and user-friendly interface. Pharos Tutors offers courses on a wide variety of topics, led by genealogy experts. You’ll find three different types of courses: “Anytime,” “Tutor-led,” or “Certificate” courses, depending on your goals. https://www.pharostutors.com

VOLUNTEER (PLEASE)!

I received an email from a large state society this week announcing that their Nominations Committee was seeking candidates for most seats on their board. I recently attended the NGS Delegate Committee (as the delegate for the SecondLife Virtual Genealogical Society), and the biggest problem that I heard most societies say they faced was getting volunteers to participate in leadership and committee positions.  One of the reasons that we started ConferenceKeeper.org was to help increase awareness of and support societies so that they could continue to exist and hopefully flourish. But all the promotion and awareness in the world doesn’t substitute for a real person stepping up to help out on a board position. The more people volunteer to help, the lighter the load on everyone.  Please consider offering even just a little of your time to your society (and if you don’t belong to one, maybe it’s time to join one 😊)

. . . . . .

Thanks for reading and following. Please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts and comments, suggestions, and especially corrections. They help keep the calendar accurate, and also help me know what may need improvement.   Don’t hesitate to use the CONTACT form on the website or email me at  info@conferencekeeper.org if you’d like to reach me.  Have a great week!

– Tami Osmer Mize
