KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED

RootsTech by FamilySearch has announced the first four keynote speakers for the world’s largest family discovery celebration taking place March 6–8, 2025: Author Ndaba Mandela (a prominent politician, public influence, and grandson of Nelson Mandela), prominent artist Dana Tanamachi (known for her 3 story mural at Starbucks inside New York City’s Empire State Building), and Olympic and Paralympic Gold-medalists Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall. They will take the main stage to share their unique and inspiring personal, family, and historical experiences with the global RootsTech 2025 audience.

GREEK GENEALOGY

Earlier this year, Carol Kostakos Petranek of Spartan Roots and Georgia Stryker Keilman of Hellenic Genealogy Geek released a series of short videos via their Bite-Sized Greek Genealogy podcast, to address the most common Greek genealogy research questions that people ask.   • SCHOLARSHIP: GRIP Genealogy Institute is proud to announce the 2025 Donn Devine Scholarship winner, Diane Markham. The Donn Devine Memorial Scholarship was established in 2020 to honor Donn’s significant contributions to the legal and genealogical fields. This scholarship is an exciting opportunity for a first-time attendee to engage in a comprehensive week-long GRIP Genealogy Institute (GRIP) course. Congratulations, Diane!
  • AWARD NOMINATIONS: Is there someone you research with or learn from who makes outstanding contributions to the genealogy and family history community? Let us know by submitting for 2025 Awards and Competitions! Review details of the various awards and honors on the NGS website. Complete the necessary form by 15 December 2024. See the website for full details and nomination instructions.
  • MOVING: Starting 1 January 2025, the National Genealogical Society will become an entirely virtual office, with staff spread throughout the country.
