FRENCH ANCESTRY?
In honor of Bastille Day, MyHeritage is offering free access to all 131 million French census records from July 11–16, 2024. Access them here.
EMAIL ARCHIVING
A new webinar from Backlog Archivists & Historians caught my eye this week – “Email Archiving.” The webinar won’t be until November 18th, but may be a good one for anyone who uses their email a lot in their genealogy research, and wants to know how to save and archive those emails. You can see all their free upcoming webinars on our calendar and here.
ALL YOUR ANCESTORS, EVERYWHERE, ALL AT ONCE
I just came across the BYU Virtual Pedigree website this week. If you have a tree on FamilySearch, it will show you pretty much your entire ancestry all on one screen as you move around. While I do have a huge computer monitor, I could get 15 generations visible and still easily read the names and dates — the smaller the print, the more generations will fill the screen. To navigate left, right, up and down, click on the tiny arrow (>) in the upper right, and a panel with directional arrows will open. It’s completely free.
NGS MEMBERSHIP FOR FREE
One of the latest individual member benefits from the National Genealogical Society is from Grouper, and is available to eligible Medicare Advantage and Supplement policy holders. If you’re a qualifying senior, Grouper will reimburse you to cover your NGS membership dues. That’s a pretty awesome “senior discount”! Details about the Grouper offer are here. See all the benefits of individual membership at www.ngsgenealogy.org/member-benefits/ .
