- Buster Crabbe, 1908. Clarence Lindon “Buster” Crabbe, Olympic gold medal swimmer from California in 1932, after which he played Tarzan, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers in the movies.
- Rene Theophile Hyacinthe Laennec, 1781. French physician, author, and inventor of the stethoscope.
- Thomas Malthus, 1766. English demographer and author, known for population theories.
- Samuel Sidney McClure, 1857. Irish-American newspaper editor and publisher, founder of newspaper syndicate.
