This Week’s Genealogy News:
(Mentions of businesses or societies in our News are unpaid and non-affiliate — it’s just good info)
CREATE A GEDCOM WITH AI
While surfing the internet for news this week, I came across a new blog post by AI guru Steve Little, titled “Turn Anything into a GEDCOM File — With Any AI Tool.” Steve shares his process and AI prompt that will create a GEDCOM from anything. His post example uses an online newspaper article, explains his process from extracting the data to the end result of importing the GEDCOM into a genealogy program. If this sounds as interesting to you as it did to me, the blog post is at https://vibegenealogy.ai/p/turn-anything-into-a-gedcom-file

MH TRAITS VIDEOS & $19 DNA
MyHeritage has released a really fun new way to experience MyHeritage DNA Traits. If you already have a Traits report on MyHeritage, you can easily create a fun, free, personalized video that highlights some of your most prominent traits. The video is created with AI using a couple of selfies that you upload. It’s really a fun and engaging way to illustrate your strongest DNA traits.
MyHeritage also has their DNA kits on sale for only $19.90! I don’t think I’ve ever seen them that low before https://www.myheritage.com/dna.

Hopefully you’ve discovered by now that the ConferenceKeeper calendar contains a LOT more than just conferences. But if you are looking for genealogy conferences, be sure to check out the CONFERENCES tab on the menu bar where you’ll find JUST conferences and a few other larger genealogy events. News from the National Genealogical Society
GOOD READS:
To wrap up Women’s History Month, Gena Philibert-Ortega has written a wonderful article on the UpFront with NGS blog about the very first editor of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly (NGSQ) titled “She was also a Genealogist: Lillian A. Norton, the First Editor of NGSQ.” The UpFront blog is available to everyone, and contains a mix of informative and educational articles and updates.
The April–June 2026 Issue of NGS Magazine is now available online for NGS members. This issue is full of excellent articles on a variety of genealogy topics, genealogy community news, and a new feature “Projects and People” – highlighting new, free resources of genealogical significance pertinent to research within the United States. And don’t miss the lovely article about ConferenceKeeper on page 5!
And for more in-depth, scholarly reading, the March NGSQ is also available online for members. The “Q” contains case studies, essays on new methodology and little-known resources, reviews of current books and previously unpublished source materials. It’s a treasured benefit of membership!
