Riverton FamilySearch Library Free January Seminar and Family Discovery Day
Riverton, Utah (6 January 2017)–The Riverton FamilySearch Library will hold a free seminar on Saturday, January 21, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.Craig Miller, vice president of FamilySearch International (FamilySearch.org) responsible for product development, will be the keynote speaker. The following weekend, on Saturday, January 28, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, the library will hold a free family discovery day.

9:00–10:00—Keynote Speaker Craig Miller, “The Development of FamilySearch”
Craig Miller directs the Product Development Division of the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is responsible for the research, development, introduction, and maintenance of the Church’s vast array of family history software products and services worldwide, including FamilySearch.org.
Following the keynote presentation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., two blocks of classes are offered.
10:10–11:10 a.m. Choose one of the following four classes.
- “Why You Want a Tree in Ancestry.com” by Art Robbins
- “Accessing and Navigating FamilySearch Family Tree” (lab class for beginners) by Linda Baker
- “Research Using Ancestry.com, Part 1” by Julie Merrill
- “Understanding and Fulfilling Your Calling as a Family History Consultant” by Jill Shoemaker
11:20 a.m.–12:20 p.m. Choose one of the following four classes.
- “Transferring Sources and Data between Ancestry.com and Family Tree” by Art Robbins
- “Creating and Attaching Outside Sources in FamilySearch Family Tree” (lab class for beginners) by Linda Baker
- “Research Using Ancestry.com, Part 2” by Julie Merrill
- “Seven Steps to Helping Others: Find, Take, Teach” by Jill Shoemaker

Saturday, January 28, 2017—Family Discovery Day “Invite your Ancestors to the Family Reunion”
10:00 a.m.–12:00 noon (activities for the entire family)
- Learn how to plan a well-organized family reunion.
- Enjoy family history discovery experiences, including replace-a-face photo fun, a 10-person story room for recording histories and stories, photo scanners, and large interactive screens with fun family history facts and findings.
