This Week’s Genealogy News:
(Mentions of businesses or societies in our News are unpaid and non-affiliate — it’s just good info)
ROOTSTECH!
What an amazing and overwhelming week it’s been at RootsTech! The people, presentations, exhibitors and overall energy have been incredible. It has been wonderful to see so many of my good friends and make new ones as well. I’ve talked with so many friendly and interesting genealogists in the Expo Hall, which has nearly twice as many exhibitors as last year! My days have been packed from early morning to late at night, and I really appreciate your patience with me this week. While I haven’t had a moment to write up my notes just yet, there is so much innovation to report on—from new products and companies to new features from some of the big names in genealogy—and I will have that ready in next week’s newsletter.
I do have a couple new bits that I came across before the conference consumed my time and energy though so please read on 🙂
COMPLETE SET OF SWEDEN’S B-M-D
MyHeritage announced several really amaing new features at RootsTech, but earlier this week they shared that they are now home to the complete set of Sweden’s historical birth, marriage, and death collections. The 33 million records date from 1850 to the early/mid 1900s, and can now be found all in one place for the very first time. Search Sweden Births, 1850–1920 – Search Sweden Marriages, 1850–1945 – Search Sweden Deaths, 1850–1945
PGSA BOOK SALE
For the month of March the Polish Genealogical Society of America is hosting a spring liquidation Book Sale, featuring a number of books they plan to discontinue selling in our bookstore. They are all 20% off plus PGSA members get an additional 10% discount on top of that. Once the books are gone, they will not be restocked! For details see https://pgsa.org/shop/
News from the National Genealogical Society
I spent a lot of time in the NGS booth at RootsTech this week telling booth visitors about the National Genealogical Society and what all they offer, from books and courses, member and public webinars, to GRIP Genealogy Institute and the annual Family History Conference! And of course I really enjoyed getting to share ConferenceKeeper with lots of new folks. Even more fun was getting to meet many that already use the calendar regularly and read this weekly newsletter 🙂
