CALENDAR OF AI EVENTS
I’ve created a calendar *just* for events tagged with “A.I.” and/or “Artificial Intelligence.” You’ll find events at all levels, from beginner to advanced, as well as in-depth programs too. The link for the AI calendar, as well as a few other specialized calendars, is under the “CALENDAR” tab on green menu bar at the top of each page on ConferenceKeeper.org, or you can head straight to the AI calendar at https://conferencekeeper.org/ai/
TULSA’S 1921 GRAVES INVESTIGATION & COMMUNITY GENEALOGY PROJECT
The City of Tulsa, in partnership with the Tulsa Police Department, Greenwood Cultural Center and Intermountain Forensics (the lab assisting the City with DNA and genealogical analysis for the 1921 Graves Investigation) is hosting free genetic genealogy workshops around Tulsa (search “Tulsa” on our calendar). The workshops hope to “introduce participants to genealogy software and resources that will assist them in better understanding their connection to the Tulsa Race Massacre and their own family histories.” As part of the Emmett Till Grant (a three-year, $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)), the City has also announced new surname and location information for 10 burials discovered at Oaklawn Cemetery. You can read more about the Community Engagement Genealogy Project at https://www.cityoftulsa.org/genealogyproject
FREE GENEALOGY GUIDE
American Ancestors is offering a free guide to “Getting Started in Scottish Genealogy.” The guide includes information on Scotland’s history as well as availability of records in both Scotland and America. Request your free download at https://hubs.americanancestors.org/getting-started-in-scottish-genealogy-guide
FREE SNEAK PEEK
Curious to learn about the 2026 NGS Family History Conference experience? Sign up for a free preview event via Zoom hosted by the National Genealogical Society (NGS) on Monday, 23 March 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET. Ask questions, get more details about all of the sessions, workshops, and other educational and FUN opportunities planned for the conference to prepare for a fantastic time in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 27-30 May.
FREE TRIAL & SOFTWARE UPDATE
Vivid-Pix is always working to improve the quality and ease-of-use of their software and has just released a free update to their Memory Station Software for current users. If you haven’t tried it out yet, you can take advantage of the free trial to create 5 stories — Memory Station Software enables you to use your existing scanner and/or import your already-digitized images, restore them, record voice descriptions for the images, and combine it all into a video story.
DOGGIE DNA DOWNLOAD DEADLINE
Support for Ancestry’s Know Your Pet DNA products is being discontinued. Current customers are encouraged to download their pet’s data by May 1 and migrate it (easily done) to the BioPet website. The instructions are easy to follow and I accomplished the task in just a couple minutes. (It was interesting to learn that our pound puppy is 72% Dalmatian, and that one of his parents was 100% and also registered in the database!)
