Midwestern Roots Family History and Genealogy Conference 

July 15 and 16, 2016 in Indianapolis at the Marriott East.

Pre-conference events July 14, 2016.


Midwestern Roots 2016 features more than 30 sessions by nationally known speakers including CeCe Moore, The Genetic Genealogist, from Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Genealogy Roadshow.

Most of the sessions will focus on using ever-changing and emerging technology and sources online. Other sessions will cover DNA, methodology, using traditional sources, and legal genealogy.

Pre-Conference activities will include a workshop for people who work or volunteer in genealogy collections, hands-on computer labs, writing sessions, and the day will end with an evening program.

Schedule of special events:

Wednesday, June 22 Bus Tour of Zion Friedheim Church (breakfast served at the church), a tour of the home of Friedrich Conrad Dietrich Wyneken, St. John Bingen Church, which was founded through the missionary efforts of Rev. Wyneken (lunch served at the church), Emmanuel-Soest Church, the largest confessional Lutheran church body in America (dessert served at the church), and St. Paul’s Church, established in 1837 and one of the founding congregations of the Lutheran Church. (Bus leaves at 8:00 a.m. and returns at approximately 5:30 p.m.)

Thursday, June 23 Allen County Public Library available for research.
