  • Horace Greeley, 1811. Newspaper editor, founder of the New York Tribune, and one of the organizers of the Republican Party.
  • Joseph Johnston, 1807. Confederate general in the Civil War whose troops were never directly defeated.
  • James Michener, 1907. American author of several historical fiction novels.
  • George Nissen, 1914. Inventor of the trampoline.
  • Norman Rockwell, 1894. American artist and illustrator, known for his realistic and homey magazine cover art for the Saturday Evening Post.
  • Gertrude Stein, 1874. Avant-garde expatriate American writer.
