WEBSITE UPDATES:
It’s been a busy week, with over 170 new events added to the calendar! I also took action on an excellent suggestion I received this week. I’ve separated out Calls for Presentations (speaking opportunities) and Calls for Papers (writing opportunities). They’re both on the same page still, but in different calendar-type boxes.  https://conferencekeeper.org/call-for-papers

One of the newer Volunteer opportunities has been updated — The Kentucky African American Civil War Research project now has a separate webpage devoted just to information about volunteering to help with the project:  https://reckoningradio.org/volunteer/

PRO TIP:
Many webinars are recorded by the hosting society or library. Some keep the recordings publicly available, and some societies offer the recordings as a benefit of membership. Many organizations that have been “zooming” for a while now have large libraries of recordings on all kinds of subjects. A $20, $25 or other annual membership will give you access to these, and often memberships come with other great perks. In addition to your local society, consider joining societies in the areas where your ancestors are from: A few years back I joined a distant society for $45, which included a fabulous monthly newsletter full of transcribed documents, and also offered a member benefit of a volunteer performing a couple hours of research in a local archive (which was over 1,000 miles from my home). The volunteer researcher found documents that proved parentage of one of my “brick wall” ancestors — Best $45 I ever spent on genealogy 🙂  I strongly encourage you to support genealogy societies with membership or donations if you are able.
