CALENDAR or VIRTUAL CALENDAR for
ALL of the upcoming genealogy events.

. . . . . .

Some day I’ll learn how to take a vacation, lol. I just can’t keep myself away from ConferenceKeeper for very long, and of course, while I’ve spent this week visiting dad and my sister near Tucson, AZ, I’ve still managed to have plenty of time to keep up the calendar and write a newsletter today, too! And so much for the “dry heat” of Arizona – ha! It’s rained every day, and the temps are cooler than back home in North Carolina! Who’d have thought!

WHEN THINGS BREAK
I really appreciate it when y’all let me know when something isn’t working the way you think it should, or if an event you submitted isn’t showing up, or anything else that doesn’t seem right.  I have to give a huge thank you to Janet who submitted a new virtual Swedish Genealogy Conference hosted by Drott Lodge #168, Vasa Order of America.  She emailed that she wasn’t seeing their event in the Virtual listings, and in checking, I discovered that the Virtual page was not working properly at all! It took me a couple tries but it should be back to normal now.  Please don’t ever hesitate to contact me for any reason, and especially if you see something that isn’t working. I really appreciate it. And since I mentioned the Swedish Genealogy Conference, I’ll include that it’s going to be held online November 12, with a full day of genealogy education. You can see the details and register here: https://bit.ly/3zKDP9a

NORTH CAROLINA AWARDS & NOMINATIONS
The Awards, Grants & Scholarships page has added five new annual awards for the North Carolina Genealogical Society. Nominations/submissions for these are due by August 15. If you research in NC, be sure to check them out.

FAMILY REGISTERS
An upcoming free webinar on Family Registers from American Ancestors by New England Historic Genealogical Society caught my eye this week, as a source of information that I don’t recall having heard of before, so I wanted to mention it in case you hadn’t either. From the webinar description, “Family registers provide a snapshot of a family’s members, the vital events in their lives, and a listing of children. Made popular in the 19th century with the advent of American genealogy, these pre-printed lithographs or hand-drawn registers may be the only source of vital information when church records don’t survive, or civil vital registration had not yet begun.”  The free webinar will be on August 3 at 3 pm Eastern time. You can register at https://bit.ly/3zDp5ZE

WEBSITE ADS
In the past few weeks you may have noticed ads in the sidebars of the website pages for a couple of upcoming genealogy events. I appreciate these societies’ support of ConferenceKeeper.org with their paid advertising, and in turn the ability of ConferenceKeeper to further promote these events in this way.  Please support our advertisers by checking out and maybe attending their events too!   I hope to continue adding genealogy-specific advertising to the sidebars of the website: events, speakers, businesses, etc. If you’re interested, please contact me at info@conferencekeeper.org.

That’s all from me for this week. If you have ANY comments, suggestions or questions,  please use the CONTACT form on the website or email me at info@conferencekeeper.org. I always sincerely appreciate your input! And as always, thank you for reading 🙂

– Tami Osmer Mize
